Following our lack of success lake fishing in California, we decided to take it to the next level by heading to the sea. The deep sea, to be exact.
My brother Aaron invited us to join him today for a half-day deep sea fishing adventure out of Newport Beach with the company Davey's Locker. I think the first time Aaron fished with Davey's Locker was when he was 12 or 13 years old, so he is basically an old pro at this point. We also convinced my Mom to join, which was both unexpected and awesome. Fishing is most definitely a sport for the early risers. After a 3:45am wake-up call, we made it to the harbor by 5:30am and were anchors away at 6am. My mom and I each hooked a fish that we were allowed to keep, and Michael and Aaron each hooked two that they had to throw back. All in all, it was a fantastic way to spend our last full day in California.
