My absolute favorite thing about springtime in Paris is the park life. We recently paid a visit to a beautiful park in the 15th, Parc Georges-Brassens. The park was opened in 1984 and sits on the site of a former fish market, horse market and slaughterhouse. I discovered after our visit that the architects of the park decided to keep a number of the original structures from the old market (the gateway, bell tower, etc) after the public lost it when the old Paris central market Les Halles was destroyed and moved outside of the city in 1971, taking with it all traces of an incredibly important landmark in Parisian life for centuries before. While most visitors will swing through Luxembourg Garden or the Tuileries Garden when they stop through Paris, parks like Georges-Brassen are where to go to experience the real deal.
